[Xinhua] China issues regulation on scientific misconduct
Following a string of scandals involving academic fraud and plagiarism this year, China issued a trial regulation on scientific misconduct Thursday. According to the regulation, the acts of falsifying resumes, plagiarizing works of others, fabricating scientific data, and violating regulations governing research on humans and animals will be given punishment ranging from warning, suspension of research projects, confiscating project funding and being expelled from research organizations. Cooperation Agreement signed between Xishuangbanna Government and XTBG
On December 13, Xishuangbanna prefectural government and XTBG signed a cooperation agreement on science and technology in Jinghong, capital city of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture. Annual Meeting 2005 of Ecological Society of Yunnan held in Kunming
Annual meeting 2005 of Ecological Society of Yunnan was held in Yunnan University, Kunming on December 10. Prof. Zhou Jun, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and Prof. Xu Zaifu, chairman of the third Board of Ecological Society of Yunnan and former director of XTBG, were specially invited to address the annual meeting. Science&Technology Administrators from Developing Countries visit XTBG
The first session of the International Training Program for Research Institute Leaders of Developing Countries was held on November 23 at the Graduate University of CAS in Beijing. The training was aimed at promoting mutual understandings, strengthening exchanges and developing talent. The trainees came to visit XTBG in the company of relevant leaders of GUCAS and Bureau of International Cooperation, CAS during December 10-12. National Engineering Research Center for Biodiesel Energy to be established at XTBG
On November 23, Xishuangbanna Troipcal Botanical Garden (XTBG), Beijing Institute of Genomics (BIG), and Xishuangbanna Prefectural People¡¯s Government reached consensus on establishing the National Research Center for Biodiesel Fuel at XTBG. Research Achievements
Since the establishment of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), 671 projects have been accomplished and 290 achievements have been made. The 92 important achievements have won national, provincial or ministerial prizes and awards, 42 books and 1800 papers have been published. International Cooperation
In order to achieve its mission of building one of the top-level botanic gardens in the world, XTBG has been actively developing various kinds of collaborations with universities, botanic gardens and research organizations in developed countries, such as scientific information exchange, exchange visit, joint investigation, joint laboratories, cooperative research, inviting foreign experts as advisors, and holding international workshops.
